Academic and political discourse over environmental transition – especially within the framework of the so-called “Green Deal” – generally emphasizes the relevance of the active involvement of social and economic actors in the co-design of long-term environmental transition policies. In this perspective, the development of “Green Deals” and “Pacts” has been the testbed to experiment innovative methods to engage societal actors in the co-design of pacts, policies, actions, and strategies at different scales.
This meeting aims to compare three different cases of broad participation in the formulation of green pacts, investigating, on the one hand, the methodologies and tools used to involve and deliberate in participatory settings, and on the other hand exploring the effects of participation both on political decision making and in the perspective and behaviour of the participating individuals and organizations.
