He works as a policy researcher for The Good Lobby (TGL) as of mid-2022. He is the main representative of The Good Lobby within the PHOENIX project. Within the project, TGL leads the organisation of the dialogues among various actors involved in implementing new forms of political participation related to the green transition in their local contexts – the so-called ‘inter-pilot dialogue’. Due to TGL’s expertise in EU affairs, it also plays a central role in organising the final conference in Brussels.
In addition to his work for The Good Lobby, Maarten works on a freelance basis for various other organisations and initiatives within the field of EU politics and democratic innovation, including G1000, Bertelsmann Stiftung, Democracy R&D and the European University Institute. Previously, he was employed by The ECI Campaign, Democracy International and Bertelsmann Stiftung.
Maarten holds a Master of Arts in Philosophy (research) from the University of Amsterdam.
